I need some help. I have a 1947 JD Model M that needs to be rewired. I recently came across the tractor. I need to know how to wire this thing. I am very excited about getting this thing running.

Check E-Bay for John Deere Service Manuals. There is an auction up right now for
JOHN DEERE M TRACTOR SERVICE REPAIR MANUAL SM-2001
that looks like what you need for a re-wire project.

Thanks for the quick answers. The sites were very helpful. I read some info on the those sites and it said the tractor had a positive ground. Has anyone heard of that?

Have the same question. Mine is a 49' M and I am ready to test the wiring. Was told that it is a positive ground, but I do not have a manuel yet, so don't want to take the chance.

Yes, they are definitely positive ground. In the John Deere world, if it has a generator, it is positive ground and alternators used negative ground.
