I am getting ready to change oil and filter in my 3520 for the first time. The Dealer recommended changing it after 10 hrs. I went to the Dealer and bought oil and filter. Kind of pricey. I was wondering if anyone knew who manufactured oil and hyd fluid for JD. I was thinking I could save money and time by buying oil and hyd fluid from Auto Supply Store or Discount Store. I want to use correct oil and fluid, just looking to save a few bucks. Signed Cheapskate

Your manual states to change the oil and filter aftyer 50 hours. Your manual states to check the oil after ten hours.

I think you may have misunderstood your dealer, or he's giving you some bad information.

Those engines need that break in oil for the first 50 to 60 hours. I strongly...strongly...suggest you go with your manual!.

I've just changed oil at 50 hours in my 3120 which is per the manual. I thought the 3X20's shipped with break-in oil. Why would your dealer recommend changing this at 10 hours?

Anyway, I bought the oil filter from the dealer. Just a tip, my manual says to use PN M811332, which doesn't appear to exist. The correct JD PN appears to be M806419. It's slightly smaller in diameter than the one it shipped with. I also would like to know who makes this.

For the oil, the manual says any oil meeting specification E3, E4, E5, CI-4 and CH-4 may also be used. Many different opinions on which oil is best. I picked Amsoil 3000, 5W-30. Not cheap but neither is the tractor.
