Tractor
L110 and L115
Hi,
I have been looking for a new John Deere seat to replace my old worn and torn seat for my L110 lawn tractor. I find that many of the seats that are offered for sale look just like the original seat but many indicate that there is no place for a driver present switch. How can they sell these seats, where would I put the driver present seat switch if no hole is provided? Or are they saying that the switch is not necessary? My tractor will not start unless I am sitting on the seat. Is there a way to cheat out this switch requirement?

There are ways to easily cheat the safety switch(es) on a rider, which is why a lot of the replacement seats your viewing dont have a location for the safety switch...however, it is not recommended. Even though safety switches can be an inconvenience, they are there for a reason... such as an inexperienced family member or buddy using your mower etc. Its really best to maintain the switches.

I did a google search of your L110 and found a 4 prong L110 compatible seat switch on amazon for 10$. Amazon.com : Rotary 14246 Plunger Safety Switch : Lawn Mower Parts : Patio, Lawn & Garden
If your seats dont have the switch embedded, and you dont want to pay 3x as much for a deere seat, you can buy one of these and install it yourself. Itll take a little creativity and figuring to affix it, but if you look at schematice on oem seats, you ought to figure out how to make it work.

Good luck!
