John Deere L100/Briggs & Stratten slinger ring engine

This is Mike Fraytet. We bought the mower in 2001 and started using it on 3 acres with 20ｰ mountain slopes (1 acre of mowed area). The mower has plenty power on flat ground. We fitted it with tire chains on front and back, added water to rear tires and added 60 lb of weights to hold it down on the sandy slopes.

However white smoke started coming out since last season and is becoming much more severe this year when coming "down' the slope. We switched to Mobil-1 fully synthetic oil last year and the white smoke stopped even coming down the slopes. Now white smoke has began again more than ever berfore. What do you all think, blown engine?

The single cylinder Briggs is common for blown head gaskets into the push rod valley which can cause smoking on steep angles especially when going down hill. Also check your oil level, if your carb is leaking gas into the engine it will overfill and cause smoking
