John Deere Front PTO thoughts

Anyone have any experience with any of these PTO boxes? It probably is wishful thinking, but I was wondering if they would hold up to 40HP.

I have a similar gear box as the one shown that is grayish in color, and it is on a PTO Generator and takes 30 HP with ease. It is coupled to a 20 KW generator, and takes the torque for hours on end (91 hours was my last generator run). It gets pretty warm, but again is pretty robust in construction too. It could easily take 40 HP, but that is an application where there is no heavy start load, or any impact loads either.

I doubt the green unit will take 40 HP, if nothing else, just because it has a one pulley drive. I cannot imagine a single belt enduring 40 hp of torque.

What tractor are you running the generator with? I am looking to run an 8 foot finish mower with it. I don't have many obstacles and I would be running it right off of the crank. My tractor has an 18 spline output shaft on the crank snout.

My thought on the green unit was to remove the belt and drive it direct with a shaft coupler, but it sounds like the unit you have is much more robust.
