John Deere 955
Hello, I have a JD 955 that was pretty abused for a lot of it’s life, then sat for about 4+ years. Picked it up from my neighbor for $500 and got it running decent. I’ve been using it for the past 6 months on my property, fixing the bare minimums as I go. all the basic mechanical functions worked, but none of the electrical accessories. Now, rodents just chewed the wiring behind the dash.

My question is this: Can I just run new wiring through the key switch to the starting, charging, and fuel shut off solenoid? Do I need anything else? Just trying to get a few more years out of this machine.

:welcome: to TBN

I'd suggest the best help for you would be to get the service tech manual for the 955. It has all the wiring diagrams along with a ton of other helpful information. Visit your Deere dealer or go online to search and find that manual. More than just an operator's manual.

Sounds like you have a good deal on your hands, and sorry to hear about the pesky rodents.. Very destructive critters.

PTO also requires power to activate the magnet in the lever, I have a PDF of the technical manual you’re welcome to, just shoot me your email if wanted
