john deere 855

...saw a JD 855 with a front loader. 4 wheel drive, power steering, They told me they rebuilt the engine because the ring were frozen. Looked pretty good, I did not start it or drive it. they are asking $ 11,500. any input would be appreciated. Biomedted@aol.com

The 855 is an outstanding tractor, but $11500 is a bit too high, even with a rebuilt engine (which was probably just re-ringing the pistons). As others wrote, parts aren't as easily available.
For $11.5K, I think I'd look for something newer. I've seen 4300's 4310's and 4400's got for that price...these are larger and more capable tractors.
