John Deere 850 blowing steam

I was bush hogging with my john Deere 850 and noticed steam coming from under the engine. When I investigated it was coming from a hose attached to the side of engine above injectors..... The "hot" lamp was not on! What is going on? Thank you!

Sounds like a blown head gasket to me.

Thanks.... I checked the oil and there was not any coolant in it.....but there was no visible coolant in radiator.....what are some other symptoms of blown head gasket?

Sounds like the crankcase vent tube. How many hours does it have? Rings could be worn and blow by is getting into the crank case and venting out the tube.
My 2030 with about 4,000 hours "blows" pretty steady, it will even raise a cloud of dust if driving over loose dirt. I have no plans to fix it.

Hold your hand in the"smoke" coming out of the tube, see if your hand smells of burnt oil or has a hint of the sweet smell of antifreeze

Seems too low of hours for warn out rings. I think there are test strips you can get for testing the coolant for combustion gases.
