John Deere 755 engine stopping

Hi

My John Deere 755 suddenly the engine started to stop

Would restart for 5 seconds then stop again

Looked and saw solenoid to fuel shut off was closing

If I hold it open engine runs fine

Any idea of causes. Ignition switch isn't brilliant so I am going to get replacement

I am an Engineer and have multi meter and was going to check seat switch

Any other pointers gratefully recieved

Otherwise great little tractor bought used. if it ever goes badly wrong I am going to have to buy new or have wife leave me

Check for voltage to the solenoid after it stops. Probably a bad coil on the solenoid, or at least thats what it sounds like.

Check the power supply to the solenoid coil. There may be a loose wire, etc thats going "open circuit" once the engine starts that allowing the solenoid to close the fuel suppply.

The fuel stop solenoid on my 5300 failed during a day I was discing food plots for a friend. Had to open it up and take the plunger assembly out. Ran fine but had to stop the engine by stalling it with brake and clutch. Seemed it was a weak design.
