Fuel shutoff solenoid wont stay in! To keep tractor running ?

I used 755 the other day! Ran fine like usual!! 1986 I've had it 20 years ! Went to use it next day! Wouldnt start i noticed fuel shutoff wasnt retracting. So i knew to push it in started right up! But a little imconvenient to take side panel off every time to start it! So i took off solenoid noticed black wire was broke off going into solenoid. So figured this was problem! Bought a new solenoid installed it!!! Well now it starts but doing exactly the opposite ! Starts hold in coil works but wont stay running ? Hold in coil only uses 1amp fuse is good ! Any ideas on what problem could be? Thanks

Well 138 views but no answers ! I got it going i installed new solenoid and adijusted linkage same as old one ! I unhooked linkage cranked on it it sucked right in !!! Old solenoid must have had wear on it ! I adjusted new one starts right up! I guess probably wasnt letting it go in far enough is my guess! I guess you'd call it determination! American ingenuity or just tinkering with it till i figured out to get it running !!!Anyways thanks for all the views!!!!
