I am thinking about buying this planter but don't know a lot about it. I want to make it a no till unit. The guys said I don't need to buy springs as it already has four "heavy duty" springs on ti which you can see in the picture if you enlarge it. Is that true? Or, do I need to buy the complete no till kit that Shoups sells? Also, what type of coulters would be best, I know nothing about them. Thanks!!

It really depends on your soil. A previously tilled area that was managed such as soy or corn the previous season you can probably get away without wave coulters in front unless you have soil with a lot of clay. The 7000 has double disc opener and is usually heavy enough to get the depth needed without them. You can probably get away with even in sod if you time it right and the soil is softened from rain but not too wet as to clog the openers.

Best advice is to give it a try without them before spending the money on no-till openers. Also if you are doing this for food plots over farming where your income depends on seeds per inch no-till coulters might not be worth the added investment.

Need better pictures.
I have a 7200 with wavy coulters and row cleaners.
You will need a way to spray before and after for no-till to work.
