John Deere 5310 won't start

Sure hope it isn't a dirty fuel filter or out of fuel.

I have had 50 different kinds of trouble with the electrical system on my 5200. At some point in the near future, I am going to completely rewire the tractor (and get rid of all that horrible safety crap). Yes, I said it. Machines are dangerous, and if you aren't careful, natural selection will get you (which is good for the human gene pool).

So what exactly was the problem in the end? You never told us. I am having the same problem.

Roger, there is a number of suggestions in this post to address the issue of not starting. What have you tired? ie all fuses good, disconnect the thermistor part # RE503242, tested for power at the fuel solenoid, then worked backwards and tested the 3 relays?

Actually I haven't done anything other than find out it is a fuel problem past the injection pump. The fuses are okay, and I don't think there is power at the fuel solenoid (if I know which one is the correct wire. I am assuming it is the one wire on the top of the injection pump). I am assuming I can jump that wire with a positive charge and confirm the tractor will then start, just to be absolutely sure it is an electrical problem.

I will start troubleshooting it more tomorrow and follow the steps that are indicated above, but was curious what the dealer found after the other person gave up.

The only fuses for the entire tractor on the fuse block below the steering wheel, correct?

Other than the fuselink (which I doubt is your problem) all the fuse are under the steering wheel. I have attached the page from the tech manual on how to test the fuel shut-off solenoid.

Thanks for that. It is very helpful and that is the wire I assumed was for the solenoid and confirms the check I was planning on doing next. I will do that tomorrow and go from there. Thanks for all you help. I will let you know what I found.
