The problem with changing the clutches is that you still have an under powered engine. As for a performance carb's. assuming that you go with a motorcycle carb it will be tought to maintain a constant speed with a gas pedal and also you run the risk on over reving the engine with out the governor. Over reving can cause the ACR to come apart on the cam also. Just for the record I only use my string when the engine is under load.

Kenny, don't quote me on this but I think the 4x2 turf is suposed to be a 15 mph clutch. Early standard 4x2's were 15 mph and somewhere in between got bumped up to 18mph.
