John Deere 4200 three point lifts too high

Looking for some help. My three point lifts too high and slows motor down when it gets to the top, seems to creep down too. I tried the adjustment rod with no change what so ever, What could be wrong?

A component called the rockshaft can be adjusted to prevent over travel. Some tractors even have a stop on the control itself you can set to limit how far up and down it goes. As far as the drifting down that is probably a leaky seal within the three point lift itself.

I believe what you are referring to are possibly friction plates to provide resistance to the position control lever to prevent the lever from moving on it's own due vibration and what have you. This would very likely not have anything to do with your problem. Others here have mentioned a couple of areas worth checking into: Seal in feedback assembly and/or seal on 3pt hitch piston.
