John deere 3720 front axle seal.

How difficult/expensive is it to replace a seal in the front axle of a 3720? Does it require a bunch of special tools, shims, what? I found a nice little puddle of oil on the floor under the right front wheel of my new-to-me 2009, 3720. Any advise would be appreciated...

Sorry no one replied to this. The axle seal is pretty easy to change if you haven't found out already.
You might take the wheel off though, and look on the bottom of the knuckle or pivot as there is a plug there. I replaced a neighbors that had popped out on his 3720.

TT, Many thanks - I'll check that out...

FYI: I was in a local JD dealership last week and spoke with them about it. I was told that it's generally about $600.00 for both front wheels so maybe $300.00 for the one. Given my history with repairs of this sort, I'm going to let them do it...

Doing some re search on a totally different machine..but have you opened up your check/fill plug? How much pressure is behind it? Alot of these front axles arnt vented.

You may want to open the plug and clean the area. If you still have a leak then it's a bad seal. If its pressure related you may want to add a vent.
