John deere 300

I am gonna buy a John Deere 300 but it has a oil pan leak. So it needs a new oil pan gasket. How hard is that kind of a job.?

Is it a garden tractor or utility sized tractor ? If it is the garden tractor you will have to remove the engine . That should have the K 341 Kohler , single cylinder 16 HP . Once it is out the pan gasket is simple . That engine is heavy .

Yes its the garden tractor. And thank you for your help. Will I have to disconnect the wiring harness too then?

Yes but I think there are only a couple wires going to the engine itself . You will need to undo the driveshaft that goes back to the hydrostat trans . There is acoupler where driveshaft hooks to engine . Hope this helps .
