I'm looking at a John Deere 2440 with a factory JD 146 loader. It has one extra set of rear remotes. My concern is the hydraulic pump flow, which is rated at 6 GPM. That seems low, but looking for feedback. The primary additional hydraulic attachment I want to add is a hydraulic auger, like a Danuser 8300 for example. They make two versions, one for a 5-10 gpm pump, and one for a 10-20 gpm pump. Am I worrying too much, or is the 6 gpm pump flow on the 2440 somewhat weak? Are there options for upgrading the pump? I know it's a front mounted pump.

Thanks! TX

GPM just determines the speed of the auger.

Another pump with more GPM's will probably have the same pressure rating, and therefore would produce the same power.

Since you have a choice of augers, match the auger with your tractor pump flow.

A larger hyd motor in cu in, will produce more GPM and use more HP.

I think you are worrying too much. My JD 2030 has a smaller GPM pump. Not sure of the GPM, but it's 1.38 cubic inch per revolution. There was an optional pump for the 2030, (Dealer said rarely ordered), 2.4 cubic inch per revolution. That's the pump you have.
