John Deere 2305 Won't Start

Howdy, newbie here.

I have a 2006 2305 that will turn over just fine, but after starting for just a moment (1 to 2 seconds), turns immediately off. Further cranking is fruitless. I then turn the key off, try again, and the same thing happens. I replaced the battery to no avail. Thinking it may be a fuel solenoid issue. Anyone out there familiar with this frustrating issue?

This would be a good time to do a search of TBN for some in-depth reading on the fuel solenoid issue. Or...have you done that and it is the reason you are thinking that is the problem?
Why did you think the battery was the problem?

Have you drained the fuel bowl holding the fuel filter to get rid of any water?

Yes, Been searching on net for similar problems, leading me to believe that it may be the solenoid. And, yes, the first thing I did was drain the bowl and replace the fuel filter, which, admittedly, was somewhat grimey. I replaced the battery as it showed signs of leakage, but I figured it was likely not the cause of the problem.
