I am sure others have talked about this before BUT, John Deere designers have to really have their collective heads up their back side to put a fuel filter right against the outlet of the fuel tank and NOT put in a shutoff valve.

I had the misfortune of somehow getting moisture and the beginnings of diesel algae in the fuel, plugging up the filter even though I keep treatment in the fuel. Naturally the tank was full when this happened making it impossible to change the filter without getting a bath in fuel since the filter has extra long nipples and is in a tight spot with little wiggle room. They placed a shutoff on the secondary filter where it really does not do much of anything. For the cost of these machines a simple in line shut off at the tank would only cost Deere a few cents per tractor for which they could up the price a couple of hundred.

At least the tank got flushed as fuel went everywhere. Needless to say it has a shutoff in line now.
