Hello, I have a John Deere 1010 Dozer(I think early 60"S). I bought it and got a great deal on it because the guy said the engine and trans were seized. Originally I was just going to use it for parts on my 64 1010 but it was in such good shape I have decided to try and salvage it. I pulled the engine and was able to fill a 5 gallon bucket with seeds, grass, mouse remains etc... This is why it was seized. I put some diesel fuel down the cylinders and let it sit for a week and was able to turn the engine over after working it back and forth with a small bar on the back of the crankshaft. The other issue it has is that the clutch and brake pedal move very hard. The clutch pedal is a little better now that I cleaned out the bell housing but still works hard. As far as the brake goes, I have disconnected the two little rods that go back to the rear clutch/brake mechanisms so the issue just appears to be that the bushings where the rod goes through the transmission are seized/rusty. I have tried to spray them quit a few times and worked the pedal back and forth with not much luck. I cannot figure out how to get the ends off from the rod on each side to tap out the main rod. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get them off? It almost looks like there are some sort of pins on each side that you might have to tap out but these are so rusty it is hard to tell. Could someone please give me pointers on how to remove the main brake rod that goes left to right through the transmission on a 1010 dozer. And also maybe the clutch rod too. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
