Planters john deer 71 flex planter

Hi people i am new to the forum but have been reading it for a bit .I have a question for you . I have a tworow 71 flex planter i bought last year .IT works pretty good however. some times the double disk opner dose not turn .I have depth bands installed .Question how easy should the disk opners turn or spin . thanks guys

On e-bay there is a guy from Jamestown ND that sells these unit and parts, Check for his phone number in his add.
I'll also check with my neighbor this weekend, he is running a 71 unit.

Check to make sure the bolts in the center of the depth band are not too long and/or too tight. If too long, they'llbottom against the axle stub and prevent the disc from turning. They don't need to be excessively tight anyway. I'd suggest backing them off a turn or two and see what happens. BTDT many times.

Disc opener should turn freely.
