Jinma 284 transmission - ease of use

   / Jinma 284 transmission - ease of use #11
Regardless of what tractor you go with, double clutching is not hard to learn once you practice.

And don't forget, this is a tractor, not a small car. It takes quite a bit to bog down the engine enough to stall it.

If you are that concerned, practice for a few days before you go out and mow. But the bush how/mower won't explode if you drop the RPM to make the turn. If you arn't happy with the cut quality in the turn, go over that section twice, once horizontal, once vertical.

When you get to the end of your vertical strip, disengage everything, slow down, turn around. And go again. Then do the part you skipped going horizontal.

Hope this makes sense

Before writing the straight geared transmission off, which will basicly eliminate any chinese tractor, test drive one at your dealer. For yard mowing and 90 degree turns, doubt you will have to slow down by shifting gears. You can drop the rpms down a little, to around 1800, and should not impact grass cutting, unless you are cutting very think and high grass.

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I feel better now. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now I just need things to dry out a bit round here so my dealer can organise a test drive.

Cheers, Foggy
