I repair Esab and Miller plasma cutters. There's a ton of Chinese integrated circuits and opto-receptors in them. You know what? Those never seem to be the problem. These units are in pro fab shops and being used by guys who grew up using an OA torch to cut, so most times it's "user error" or dirty reflectors in the OSHA mandated case integrity circuit, followed closely by bad (jerked out of the wall too many times) plugs. The Chinese have got it together on microchips and wafer fab. They will turn the corner (soon, IMO) on tractor mfg.
