Jinma 284
I have a Jinma 284 we recently had to replace the engine after getting it all back together the loader will not raise without lifting the bucket by hand to assist it. The bucket will pivot. Prior to replacing the engine all the hydraulics worked fine. Variables that come into play is we did change the hydraulic oil and used AW46 the only equivalent of H46 i could find and H46 is what Keno Tractors recommended although Affordable Tractors in Texas thinks that is a bit thick and recommends aw32 however they think that should not be the issue.

We do know the AW46 seems much thicker than what came out of it. Another variable my neighbor (who is leading the effort to get the tractor going) when first firing up the new motor he neglected to loop the connect lines together and we got a high pitch squeel immediately shut it down and noticed that and connected it before the next try. Could the pump be damaged and that's why the loader will not lift? Steering and bucket pivot works fine. Also we tried swapping lines on the valve levers between the bucket pivot levers and same result well almost the thing did raise up about 10 inches. Also i picked up a new hydraulic filter but have no clue where to find it to change that.

Any help would be much appreciated

Probably the pump. No scratch that. Probably blew a seal in the loader valve when trying to lift without fluid.

My guess would be partially stripped drive on the pump input shaft due to dead heading the pump. It may have blown a seal that was under pressure when the lines were dead ended.

Removal of the pump and inspection of the drive will make it clear if the shaft sheared or stripped.

One good thing about these chinese tractors is that many of the hydraulic pumps are reasonably priced.
The last one i looked at was about $200 and that would have been with a volume upgrade allowing faster FEL operation.
my :2cents:
Good luck

We never ran it without any hydraulic oil.

I read some where that a seal could have ruptured resulting in it going into the engine but the engine oil level is right on. But my gut feeling is the pump has been damaged I will take it off tomorrow and look but I think I might just go ahead and order a pump right away in the morning to get it here sooner. Thank you for your help and anyone else that can chime in to confirm or other ideas please do.

I really don't want to push you into ordering a new pump until it is made obvious-
if after removal the pump input shaft is sheared or stripped,

Actually I still have some concerns after re reading your original post

as to whether your tractor only has the one pump that uses a diverter set up for the multiple functions.
Because the power steering works fine. correct? And also the curl function on the FEL??? Does the curl function have full power?

if so there is likely nothing wrong with the pump

I thought the 284 Jinma was like my chinese tractor and has a cbn e3-- gear pump for the FEL
an HLCB gear pump for power steering
and even possibly a pump in the transmission /rear axle case for the 3 point

This is where someone with Jinma 284 experience can be very helpful like Affordable

Zman,
Perhaps you would clarify what is meant by "neglected to loop the connect lines together". Are those the hydraulic lines? and which ones?

There are two quick-attach couplings so that the loader can be taken off, one supplies the loader the other is the return. They always need to either be attached to the loader or to each other when the engine is running. If they are not connected excessive pressure will build up in the hydraulic system and the pump or a seal will fail, there is no system pressure relief valve.

You can inspect the pump without draining the fluid or disconnecting any hose. It is just held on with two bolts, you can take those two bolts off and leave the hoses connected. That will tell you if the driveshaft is damaged or the internal seals are leaking.

That makes more sense now. It still seems the loader valve could have a problem since some of his FEL works.

I took the pump out and apart and all the gears look fine only thing is there is rubberband like spring came loose from the seal for the shaft with the key that engages the pump driver but it may have come loose when I took it apart. For the **** of it I am going to order a gasket kit for it. But Its not the problem the engine does not have any more oil in it like the seal was leaking. Talking to Affordable Tractors They think that it is the valve controller.

The Controller is a Prince brand. Do I just a buy a new one? looking on the internet they are rated in different gallon per min. I can not find any rating on the controller. Or is rebuildable? They are is some time of adjustment we think is for pressure will that need adjusting with a new one or ? The loader brand I think it saids spencer on it if they makes any difference. At a loss for what to do next.
