Jinma 284 ignition switch

I had some more fun with the Jinma this weekend. Promptly after I fixed the IP, the ignition began going dead, INTERMITTENTLY. I noticed some moisture on the key (we had a rain/snow storm the night before). I sprayed it thoroughly inside and all exterior contacts.

After about 50-60 tries I was unable to duplicate the failure so figured I had it fixed. Next day, I started the tractor ,pulled it into the barn to clean stalls and when I went to start it again, zilch. I used a screwdriver on the sol/starter to bring it up to the garage and by the time I got it there, all that is powered by the switch was working again. Which is fine, but I can't trouble shoot it.

I sprayed it again and was only able to duplicate the failure 2-3 times and then only very briefly before power flowed.

All grounds are good, battery is full charge.

Anyone have similar experiences? Are the ignition switches another high quality Jinma part?

Replace it with an inexpensive (<$20) Ford cold start switch. Very common upgrade to the crap OE switch. Severl here have done it, all will surely be willing to assist.

I have the very same problem with my FarmPro 2425. It was intermittent and then nothing. I ordered a new switch from homier the farmpro dealer but my key will not turn the new switch. I have tried to contact them 3 times so far and have not herd back from them. So I think that it is the switch but have not been able to prove it yet. I am not happy with the service and if I had to do things over I would have stayed clear of these red chinese commie crap tractors. Homier customer support sucks donkey shlong!

Homier support Sucks.

Go with Affordable, Ranch Hand, Spring Valley, Artrac, ect. When I order parts from them they give plenty of free advise and have the parts in 2 days usually.

Homier is by no means a tractor dealer but a company who sold a lot of tractors. There poor support and prep along with other outfits who did the same is what give Chinese Tractors a bad name. Its unfortunate because these tractors are reliable, tough, and a great bargain if set up properly from the get go.

My "red chinese commie crap tractor" has served me well with 172 hours of reliable tough work since May '09. It's already paid for itself with 60 hours of chipping brush, digging a huge stump (almost too heavy to lift with the Koyker 160 loader), clearing mountains of ice storm debris, splitting two truckloads of firewood, and plowing snow for my neighbor and myself.
