Tractor
L3010HST (Jezebel)
I did some work yesterday ripping up some stumps and doing some rough grading. I noticed a steady steam of hydraulic fluid leaking out of the FEL control box.I called MB tractor where I had purchased her on my cell phone around 7:30 this morning. I let them know that this problem occured the first day I got the machine. I recieved a call at 9:00 saying that they were on site and replacing the entire unit. I'm happy about their response time but am wondering if this has happened to anyone else who owns a L3010HST or similar tractor? Is it possible that I'm overworking the tractor? I haven't taken the tractor over 2000 RPM's.

Jason,

Don't know what others are experiencing, but my B7500 hasn't dripped a drop anywhere. I do get a little bit of dripping when I connect/disconnect/reconnect the hydraulic fittings for the FEL, but it's just a few drops that I can clean up pretty easily.

Glueguy,
MB tractor replaced the entire FEL control box so maybe the box was faulty. I lost a good deal of fluid this time. The first time it happened was about 3 hours into the intial break in the fist day I had it. I hope she's ok.

Jason, sounds to me like you just got a defective control valve. All manufacturers have a flaw get by once in awhile, so I don't get upset if they correct or replace it. I doubt that it was caused by anything you did. When I bought a new '95 B7100, the FEL cylinders were defective (slowly lowered the FEL even with the engine running) and they were all 4 replaced under warranty and no more problems.

Pete,
They replaced the control valve. I went out back and ripped up some more stumps...No problems...Yet.I hope this resolves the issue. I would like to think that the first 17 hours I've put on her were gentle. I haven't pushed her too much.I hope she's able to be pushed a little more once I bump the RPM's up.Poor girl had to have things replaced and she's only a newborn.

PS: I'm glad to hear Clementine is ok.

Jay,
Sorry to hear about your problem. I had a similar issue with the fluid leaking (Gushing more like it) from the hydro filter. I did learn here that there is a new part number for that filter. (Old Pn 32701-37950, NEW TA240-59900, if I copied it down right). After service, I have had no problems and I have been working with the FEL and Gannon Box blade hard. Although from the temperature gauge, the tractor seems to think I'm out for a Sunday drive!

I guess the moral of the story is that everything should be OK. No need to obsess on the past. You have a very good tractor that will last a good long time, it just had one teething problem.

Keep the faith!

I have the 3410HST and it now has apx 25 hours on her and I have been using it hard. Now leaks, grunts or groans so far. Sounds like you just had a bad part on her.

John,
Thanks for the reassuring words. I was just unsure if I was causing the problem, There was a faulty part, or it was just a fluke. I know that I payed for the dependability of Kubota tractors much like I payed a little extra for a toyota truck. I feel much better now that I was out with her last night ripping stumps up.Thanks

Brad,
Is there a noticable difference with the loaded tires? Does that increase the performance of the FEL? I was looking into that but didn't really hear to much about it. Would a counterweight on the 3pt work just as well?

Jason,
I'm certainly no expert, but it sure seems I greatly benifit from the rear loaded tires on my L4610. I only have 30 hours on her, but most of that has been pushing over 3-12" spruce trees and other conifers, lifting the roots out of the ground and dragging to open area, and then picking up the 15-35' tree from the side and depositing into a pile. I have had the 700# boxscraper on the majority of the time, but it almost seemed I could notice a difference with the 900# tiller on instead-could probably have used one of the 1000# boxscrapers for counterweight, along with the ballast.

By the way, she has performed flawlessly with no leaking in any way. Also used her to broadcast 3.5 tons of lime and till 1.5 acres-has performed better than expectations.

Jeff,
Do you think that extra weight would matter in wet areas? Would the tractor rut the area up alot more or even get stuck. I have some wet areas in my yard and I guess that was one reason I stayed away from filling the tires. Would suitcase weights and a heavy 3pt impliment work as well?

Jason,
I don't have any experience with the front weights, just rear.
When I was clearing the larger trees there were times that I probably could have used even more weight in the rear for the heavier lifting, digging, and stability in carrying- the rear ballast, per the dealer, is around 1000#'s(Rimgaurd).
In clearing there were some pretty wet areas that I had to drive through while carry the heavy trees or dirt. It actually surprised me when I looked at where I drove through without any hesitation-I didn't realize I was cutting down that far and leaving such deep, water filled ruts. I stopped going through the wet areas after that but it did not seem that the 6500#'s of machine hurt the traction any. I also have R1's and they seemed to help greatly with the traction.

Going out to do some more tonight-can't wait!!
