Jeep Wrangler Instead of a Side by Side?

I have a side x side and love it, don't know how I lived without it. Very nimble in the woods and really easy and quick to get in and out of. Its a Ranger 900 crew and seats 5. I also have a jeep but it won't be seeing the woods anytime soon. its a 2015

Looks like you've got it covered!!!

I'll stake a claim and say that less than 10% of UTV owners on TBN can truly financially justify the purchase price.

With that said, I'm not condemning UTVs. I enjoy mine and use it frequently. I bought it used for $7K. No way I can justify that cost. Convenient? Yes. Handy? Yes. Enjoyable? Yes. Financially justifiable? No. :)

That rather depends on how you define "financially justifiable." What's your definition?

Easy to justify. "I decided not to get a dually which saved me $17,000 so I got a UTV."

There is no such thing as "truly financially justify".

Well yeah but I was referring to discretionary spending. I bet 90% of the shiny pickups have provided much more discretionary funds (to Ford, Chevy, Dodge) than the entire cost of a new UTV. Nothing new here. Its a rich country and people have a lot of money (or access to it and earning power to repay).

In regards to financially justifying a UTV, what I consider to be a Utility vehicle, it would have to compliment the completion of utility/work tasks that cannot efficiently be completed by any other vehicle of lesser cost.

What's your definition Steve?

I haven't used this even 5% as much as I would use a UTV. Just "the kit" cost nearly as much as your used UTV Richard. Even my snowmobiles don't get as much use as a UTV would, but they are different seasons and season lengths. You pretty much won't get anywhere trying to justify discretionary spending. But you can certainly TRY :D

I'll have you know all this discussion is wearing down my resistance to UTVs. :D

Hang in there Sodo!!!! :)

Love the "snow bike". Never saw one before. That looks like a Young Man's game. :)

No worries here. I'm totally not justifying any type of spending. As I said, I'm very happy with my UTV. But I'd never claim it to be a better financial expenditure than a Jeep to do like work.

If you can't help yourself and just gotta go buy a UTV, shop for a used one. I found mine on Craigslist. Took me a month and an 80 mile one way drive. It was a year old with 100 miles and 24 hrs on it. I didn't even test drive it. The owner wanted to make sure I saw that it had a scratch in the plastic over the left rear tire. It still smelled new. Owner paid $12K for it. He bought a new JD 2305 with FEL and MMM. Needed to free up some cash so he'd get "sleeping" rights again with the Mrs. :)

It probably can't be my game for long enough to wear it out, especially how little it's been snowing here. It's wicked fast on the wheels too.

Every time I sell something fast and replace it with something slow I gain points with the Mrs. She does worry about my tractor though. I think she would like the UTV, even more if I sold something fast to get it.
