A John Deere 850 is really a Yanmar YM2500. Or the Yanmar YM2610 if it's an automatic.

Well, I had my John Deere 850 restored by Fredricks OutDoors and Imports out of Alabama.

All I can say is WOW. Show room new and with ROPS, PTO shield, and many new parts not found on the original to update it to the latest OEM JD CUT for our day.

Oh, the before pix it was horrid. That's the reason why I left it off.

But, since you did ask ... :D

Oh, just added the engine pix. If I knew that the diesel mechanic who worked on the engine messed it up so bad to blow-up, I would have never started it.

Notice how aged all the engine parts are for only having 1,4XX hours on it. Then go back to the first post and see all the NEW engine parts. The above also has all NEW internal parts too!

Do you know where the folding ROPS came from? Never saw one on an 850.

Yes, Fredricks in AL and Hoye in TX has OEM foldable ROPS for both Yanmars and John Deere CUT tractors.

For the JD850, the ROPS-7 is the OEM fit. P/N A-11339 made by Custom Products in Litchfield, MN. CP does not sell to the general public. There are other distributors too. Custom Products of Litchfield, Inc. ROPS Manuals — Fredricks Importing

BTW, CP also makes the Cozy Cab for a majority of Yanmar and John Deere CUT tractors. Their work is soooo OEM professional and perfect fit since 1962.

Also, for the record, there are JD850 OE ROPS that are the green goal post, non-foldable type. Those require the CUT to be stored in a tall barn with a big opening.

The CP ROPS offered by Fredricks, Hoye, Miami Tractors (in Ohio), etc. meet or exceed Federal ROPS requirements.

Yes, my YM2610 is an identical tractor to the JD850, but it's an automatic. Check out the before pixs. I show the Yanmar made for John Deere badge and engine type too.

Looks like they made a huge change in the looks of your tractor. No one will ever confuse the before and after pic's Ed

Would you mind saying how much they charged for that? It looks fantastic, really curious on cost

Like the other's, i'd like to know the cost as well, way cheaper than buying another one for sure.

It looks fantastic & will be a hand me down years from now, BTW, the original pics weren't to horrid, or i was expecting worse.

The JD850 was a trade-in on a totally restored Yanmar YM2610 (aka a JD850, but painted red instead.)

Fredricks did many things to restore the JD850 and then added the ROPS, additional safety brackets, a better than OEM battery tray, a hood latch bracket that locks (keep the hood propped up), and more.

Fredricks also did a full engine overhaul too.

If your John Deere is a Yanmar clone, they can totally restore it completely.

The cost to restore/overhaul the engine, drive-train and hydraulics was going to be around $3,500 on a quote I had gotten. The body work; panel repairs or new panels, frame, grill, lights, electrical, seat, ROPS, PTO shield, overrun clutch, and a bunch more was a bit more than $2K.

Here is a page to their restoration and processes.

I had seen what the price of NEW for John Deere, Mahindra, LS, and Club Cadet CUT tractors are these days. Those are out of my price range.
