Was wondering if any tractor gurus could help me out ... will be mainly mowing approx 4 acres of flat land, 2 acres will be "lawn" the balance mainly thicker "thatch" .. I'm down to a 21D or a 4100, specs appear pretty close ..21 vs 20hp, 16 vs 17pto, but the thing I noticed was the total pump flow is 7.4gpm on the 4100 vs 6.75on the 21D but the Boomer has a lift capacity of 1265 vs 930 on the Deere ... since I'm thinking I'll get a belly mower, post hole digger, and a blade at first to do some landscaping , then throw a FEL on later ... is there something I'm missing here? Any comments on either of these two tractors would be greatly appreciated !!

Lift capacity is almost impossible to compare betweent he tractors because they all use a different system for measuring the capacity. Both of those units will do what you want and more. Either way I wouldn't worry about it as they are both great machines. Resale will be better with Deere but you may pay more. So it just comes down to who gives you a better deal and what machine you like better.

The JD4100 and the TC21D are both great machines. The 21D will accept a back hoe (with some significant modifications) while the 4100 has the quick-change for the FEL.
For the applications you describe you might also consider the Kubota BX2200. I have attached a photo by a TBN member lifting a boulder with a BX.
