I borrowed a friends JD300 tractor and back hoe. I think it's a early 1970 tractor with hydralic transmission.
I am 95% sure he broke his right axle in this machine. The tractor will not move unless the differential lock is engaged. If the Diff lock is engaged the left tire is the only tire driving the tractor. I have heard many different opinions on how to get the old shaft out and whether I can find parts for it. I have already broken the bleeder screw for the brake loose and I have a torch to help in the removal of the bolts.
I would like some sound advice on the steps required to remove and replace the axle shaft and any leads on reasonably priced parts would be great.
My friend let me borrow this tractor becuase he does not have a place to store it. I thought I could drive it but with just one tire turning it's very difficult to drive.
I would greatly appreciate any advice I could get.

Thank you,

Jimmy
