Flushing and changing the coolant in my JD322. This is the gas version of the 332. I bought the unit used so I have decided to change the thermostat while I'm at it. I found out on the JD parts site that there are two available. The standard which is in stock. The other is listed as optional and has 82 degree by it description.

I don't know this units operating temp or the rating of the standard thermostat. Wondering why this other one is offered? Isn't it a matter of how soon it opens based on it's rating? Seems to me the optional one would come open real early at 82 degrees but who knows what the other is listed at. Once open would it really matter? I only have a temp light which works but never comes on. Should I consider the optional one for any reasons?

I bet that 82 degree unit is rated in celcius. 82 degC = 179.6degF.

Bet that is it. I started to think about it in a celcius rating. Knowing auto thermostats I would guess this optional one is rated lower than the standard.

Someone sent me this off the JD parts page so I think I have my answer. I searched that site but did see that info listed.
