JD new two stage blower ?

How we'll does the new JD two stage snow blower work compared to the older single stage ? I am looking at a used X365 tractor and it comes with a new used twice two stage blower.

I,ve got a 44", 2 stage one on my JD 455, and it works great. I would think yours should work much better than a single stage as well. Most single stages are called a thrower, that just barely leaves the shoot. The 2 stage are blowers, mine throws it about 30 feet. I,m sure you will be pleased with it, as long as you keep the revs up. They need high RPMs to get the second stage spinning really fast, which does the blowing.

Not to nit pick,

single stage and two stage units are actually refered to as SNOW CASTERS not snow blowers
-its simply a generic term for them as they throw the snow, they do not blow it.

I have the 44 inch unit and it works fine but is not ment for heavy use. the plastic chute and spout is the problem.

just how delicate is the plastic chute ? I have a gravel drive way and occasionally pick up a stone that isn't frozen in.

Tis Delicate enough that you want to layer three layers of GOOD duct tape around the chute from top to bottom and also the spout-I found out it shredded my spout when I had to clear ice dams from in front of my drive way thanks to the new york state department of transportation and their lack of drainage ditch maintenance.


To have a metal one fabricated would probably cost as much as the snow caster itself.

SADLY for JOE CONSUMER the spout and chute are not sold separately and its north of $100.00
