JD Mx5 gear box

The shaft coming out of the bottom of the gear box broke on my mower. Does the whole gear box need to be replaced? If so does it have to be an OEM or are their others that fit? Thanks

You should be able to get a replacement output shaft at a JD dealer for your MX5. The cost of the new shaft will be high enough, but you don't want to start pricing complete gearboxes!!!

Thanks for the reply. Your right to replace the gearbox is gonna be pretty expensive.
