Started up my garden tractor today and now when I release the brake, the engine kills. I am assuming it is a safety switch failure. Any idea where the safety switch is located on the brake pedal system? I looking around but can't find it. And I can't move it to get it elevated.

I also need to remount the belt so I need to move it to get access.

Okay stop your intensive research. I think I found it. Well found something and unplugged it and now I can release the brake and drive it. Now to figure out why the steering is so hard to turn and get the belt back on. Is the steering powered by the belt that drives the mower deck???

No. The excessive effort on the steering is usually due to lack of grease in the front axle kingpins. Steering sectors fail on these too, but generally due to wear,

Thanks Tom. I will grease those!

BTW I found that you can't just unplug the brake safety switch. The engine won't start with it unplugged. So until I get a new safety switch (just ordered online), I have to start it and then unplug the switch to release the brake to go mowing.
