Snow JD L111 lawn tractor

newbie,never done this before. I have a JD L111 lawn tractor w/snowplow.It will run only briefly and quit.I thought water in fuel,so I pumped out tank and refilled it,used air to blow out lines,replaced filter,pulled float bowl and wiped it out.No idea what the thingy with wires on bottom of float is. It still will run and quit, acts like it is running out of gas. I do not know what else to try. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We have had the same thing happen with a wheel horse and it was a plugged fuel inlet in the base of the tank.

I hate to tell you this but you need to drain the tank again and let it air out then use a small vacuum hose and clean out the bottom of the tank-been there don that with a wheel horse (had to take the frame apart to open everything) the tank on the JD will be easy to clean with a shop vac or home vacuum and pull everything out.

In our case it was a maple leaf that plugged the inlet of the fuel system which made it eventually die from fuel starvation.


I would run the tractor with the fuel tank cap loose for a few minutes while parked and then tighten the cap and wait while parked to see if it dies off.

You may have an intermittant short or cracked fuse which when hot opens up and as a result the tractor quits.


The other option to examine is the coil or coils as they will go bad too and they will heat up and crack open and lose contact.


Another remote possibility is the safety switch as it may be faulty.
