I am thinking of adding a power dump to my JD Gator using an electric screw jack such as this one -> Bully 12 Volt Electric Car Jack - JEGS

I am planning on welding a round pipe to each end of the screw jack, and adding a shaft to each of the pipes, one attached to the gator and one to the bed. Does anyone have any advice on things that I may be missing?

Plenty of Gators use screw drive to lift the bed; a different style of screw drive, but still a screw drive. I'd be curious to know if it fits in the space and the cycle time on that thing. For example I wouldn't have the patience if it took 30 seconds to lift the bed.

Just my $.02

Here is a picture of the actuator in my Gator.

Is that the factory linear actuator or another one. Do you have any idea on the specs. for it?

Sorry, I should have wrote that it was the factory one...there is no label or specs on it-I just went and checked.

Installed one on friends Gator. Used linear actuator from the Surplus Center. Used factory holes at top (bed) reconfigured factory bottom mount. Good fit. About 2 hour job, including electrics install. Saved about 50% of the dealer installed lift.

What was the stroke length of the actuator you used?
