Ok sounds good. So as long as a person continued to use 'Open Center' type valves you could add more into this same loop right? That could come in handy if I wanted to put a hydraulic cylinder on the backhoe thumb someday.

Yes, that is correct. You must also make sure the valve is rated for the same or more GPM that the tractor has.

I realize I'm posting a response to an ancient thread, but this thread did help me
get my 3pt splitter going on my JD 970, and I thought I'd share some insight.

My 970 is set up with a 440 loader - have ports on the front for the
loader - none on the rear.

I had ordered the power beyond parts from the dealer, but before they
arrived, I realized that if I ran the splitter using the power beyond,
the 3pt hitch lift arms would *not* be functional. That did not appeal
to me at all - if I wanted to change the height of the splitter, it would
mean disconnecting hoses, and reconecting hoses - what a pain.

So I ended up putting a return fitting on the hydraulic housing,
and having a hose made that tied the supply on the splitter
one of the ports for the loader up front. When I hook the splitter
up, I tap the front supply for the bucket *tilt* (not the bucket lift),
and run the splitter return hose to the return fitting I put on the
housing - that way I can run the splitter (I rigged a spring/chain
deal to keep the bucket tilt lever in the "on" position), which
works the splitter, and both the 3pt arms and the bucket lift
are functional. I run the supply hose over the deck behind the
seat, and over the inner mast arm of the splitter, and curl it
back to the port - I can run the tractor anywhere without
the hose dragging, set up, and go ......
