JD 970 for 1st time buyer

I'm a 1st time tractor buyer who drove tractors alot on the farm as a kid. I'm looking for a tractor to use on 40 acre farm to bush hog and chores as needed.

A local dealer says he has a 970 with 54 hours use, no attachments for $7500. Dealer states it was a trade in to change to a 4WD and runs well.

Pricing websites I've visited suggest this is a good price. Any thoughts for a newbie with this deal? What other questions should I ask? Thanks

Pricing can vary so much from area to area. It may be a good price in your area but a not so good price in my area. Fill in your profile and let us know the area your in and you will get better responses.

JD in my area seem to run a bit higher than the other tractors.. I would think this sounds like a fair price , But I am not an expert . I looked at a 970 and thought the one I looked at several months ago was a 4wd?? I nneded a loader and 4wd and spent most of my time looking at 790.. So I might have the two mixed up?? I would ask about the previous owner and if the dealer would give you a name and number, give him/her a call ask Why did they trade with only 54 hours?? Any service in the first 50 hours??
