Plowing snow and hit my brakes......left brake pedal went to the floor. First thought was to check the linkage. Not an issue. Soooooo....knowing nothing about brake repair on the JD 870 [and without a service manual], where do I start? Appears any brake issue is inside the rear housing. Therefore, remove the rear tire and then......beyond my knowledge and capabilities.
What issues do I have? Is this a trip with the tractor to the local dealer to break apart the rear housing?
Good small utility tractor for plowing snow, use on the sprayer or raking hay. Plan to keep long term so willing to make the plunge as to repairs.
Any assistance or comments is appreciated.

You could start on the jd website. www.jdparts.com. they have great parts breakdowns, it may give you an idea where to begin. If you have a good dealer they may print/copy a few pages of the service manual for you.
