Thanks for your patience guys as I get the hang of this site. In my first posting (that was deleted due to a bad link to a JD site), I described a problem with a used JD 670 tiller that I just bought. When buying, I was told that it needed a new slip clutch. I like to fix things myself so I figured, no problem. I have been all through this forum though, and have not seen a lot of info regarding the four-bolt Belleville spring plate style clutch that I have.
I am going to post a series of pictures with questions. Any help would be much appreciated.

The first image here is a generic sketch of a clutch very similar to mine except that mine has four bolts instead of six and is enclosed in its own housing.

Alright- I screwed it up again. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I guess you can't put up photos directly here. I have added the photos at the following link:
Clutch photos

Here is what is going on-

Photo 1: Exploded clutch to show basic parts.

Photos 2-4: Show housing around clutch plates and friction plates. Housing is bent inward at 4 places and slightly overlaps belleville spring thus holding it wedged in place. I cannot tell if this is the intended design, or if this is damage or something done by a previous owner. How can I get the plates out? Do I need to beat the steel housing back into shape? Anyhelp is much appreciated. Thank you.
