JD 6400 Engine shutoff

My JD 6400 after and hour or so of heavy work (baling hay, bush-hogging) will start having an erratic throttle speed and will eventually shutoff suddenly. After sitting for about 30 to 45 seconds it will restart after cranking for about 8 seconds and may run for another few minutes or sometimes as long as an hour and will shutoff again. Could this be the fuel solenoid getting hot or?????

Have you checked for good fuel flow from tank to inj pump? How long(hours of operation) since fuel filter was changed. Check valve(parts key 2) to see if it's stopped up.

New fuel filter, fuel flow is not a problem at the injector pump. Had to replace the lift pump in the fuel tank in April. That's why i'm suspicious about the fuel solenoid. Tractor cold starts perfect every time each day. Turn the key and it's running basically.

Parts catalog states solenoid must be "energized to run" and it could be shorting out.

Found the problem with the engine stopping... Algae had formed inside the tank due to water in the fuel and the intake screen on the lift pump was about 90 percent covered with slimy algae. cleaned out tank and added a product, basically a pesticide to kill the bacteria. JD makes a product for this, but expensive, also Power Service makes a product called Bio Clean that works and is much more inexpensive.
