jd 5205 w/522 fel mfwd
I own a jd 5205 with a 522 fel. The boom cylinder has multiple mounting positions, for various models of older tractors. What I would like to know, is would one benefit from moving the cylinders. If so what do you gain. Lift height, digging depth??? My cylinders are not in the proper mounts according to the labels on the cylinder. What is gained or lost moving them to the alternate mounts?

You need to determine the mechanical advantage as to where the cyl ends should be.

Can you show pictures?

If you move to where they should be, it well give less height more digging. Just make sure they are the right cyls for that loader. I would be asking the dealer why they put them there and not read the sticker. There could be a good reason why they did.
