I am looking at trading up to a JD 5210 to replace my 4410 I see that tractor was only made for 3 years is that bad?
Anyone have experience with the 5210 good or bad?

The 5X10 series was only made 3 years, which was followed by the 5X20, then 5X25. I have owned a 1999 5210 for 7 years now and I am VERY happy with it. It has done everything I have asked of it with no trouble at all. It can sit for a few weeks and starts up with just the flick of the key. It is noisy and I wear ear protection if I am going to run it for a half hour or more. The 3029 engine is still being used by John Deere in their tractors. Check out tractordata.com for some of the specs on the tractor. If you are getting a loader make sure it comes with park stands. On average I use a little over a gallon of fuel/hour.

The only negative I can say is you need to be STOPPED before putting it in park and at least for me sometimes it is hard to get out of park.

If you have any questions let me know.

Here is a link to the owners manual.

I'm real happy with my '99 2WD 5210. (yeah, 'Collar Shift')

Likes: Instant starting, serious hydraulic power (OC, 12gpm, ~2750 psi), OEM joystick, draft control, gears/ranges ('spread'), low fuel consumption/hr, ease of service access, reliability, operator ease/comfort ....

Dislikes: engine noise (earplugs at all times ), flimsy light mounts to ROPS (plastic), color ... (....)

The 5210 is an excellent and highly regarded tractor.

When JD does an upgrade to a series, all will change numbers, before the 5X10 series there was the 5X00 series. So I would not worry about the three year run.

There are several transmission options. The only one I would not want is the collar shift. You must come to a stop to change gears and ranges. I would want syncro-shift.

I have a friend that has had one at least 15 years. The only trouble he had was the cold start sensor failed. Very common with these tractors. And an easy fix.
