JD 5105M PowrReverser Modulator

I moved this from the Parts/Repairs Forum in the hope that I could find someone who has the experience of installing one of these kits. Thanks for your patience.

It seems like I read somewhere on here that John Deere can provide a kit to retrofit a modulator for the powrreverser on the 5M series tractors. The 4310 that I had before had a two position switch for that but I could never detect much difference between the switch positions. The 4310 seemed to modulate itself better than the 5105M, which just seems a little too abrupt, even if I allow it to return to idle before changing directions.

I would appreciate hearing from someone who has experience installing that kit. Seems like it was said to cost about $100 if I remember correctly.

I installed it on mine.

It goes here:

You just knock out or drill out the hole, attach the label, insert the knob in the hole and tighten, then plug it into the harness already there.

The catch is that the dealer needs to program the engine computer before it will work.

Thanks, you were the guy I was looking for! I appreciate your response, picture and all. Is the programming with a laptop or do I have take the tractor to the dealership?
