JD 5075E Shifter Lever will not go into 3rd or 4th gear

Hey y'all, new here. Was hoping to find some help with my 5075E. Was out running it a couple days ago and it was shifting into all the gears and acting normal and then randomly one time I went to go back into 3rd from second (just going down the road, no implements running) and the shifter lever was extremely stiff. I stopped the tractor, turned it on and off, shifted throughout the range gears, and still nothing. Even when off in neutral with the clutch down it takes a ton of force to push the shifter into 3rd and when you do with the tractor on the neutral light will flash on. No alarms are error lights. Hydraulic fluid is full. The manual suggests the linkage is stuck. Does that sound like it could be the problem? If so, what the best way to fix that. Thanks!

A thought is linkage might be a problem, is to oil those linkages to try to rule that out as the problem. Sounds doable as well as a prudent first move. Easier than a more in-depth issue.
