My 4410 had been having issues with the battery staying up so I changed it and it started right up perfect them my son says there is smoke coming out by the bake pedals so he turns it off .
I take the panels off and start looking for melted wires or something cant find anything, we to try and start it again, it cranks buy wont fire
I took it over to a mechanic friend to look at and he is stumped .
Any one know where to start is there a in tank fuel pump?
Is there a good manual available for this tractor?

I would start by checking the fuses, I have include a link to the operators manual. With just the key in the run position, I would see using a volt meter, if there is power to the fuel solenoid. It is located on the fuel injection pump, I have include a link to JDparts, if you need to see where it is located.

I would look at this post:
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...rating/172378-4410-wiring.html?highlight=4410
for the wiring diagram. I would guess the smoke was electrical in nature, what did you son say it smelled like? If you start to do anything with the electrical parts, first disconnect the negative on the battery.

Smelled like plastic I thought it could be a melted wire or we blew a in line fuse.
I had been using the battery charger on it before I changed the battery if that helps.

Where all the fuses good to include the fusible link? First order of business is to get the tractor started, I think in that process you will find out what is burning. Then determine the problem with the battery not charging/not staying charged.

Have you by chance added anything to the electrical system ie lights?

I am assuming you have a volt meter and know how to use it to check voltage, test diodes and test relays. If not the manual should give you some help in how to test diodes and relays.

Manual should have a picture and description of the starting system. Do you have power at the fuel solenoid and the key? If you will post a picture of the starting system, I can help you walk through it.
