Tractor
John Deere X475, X738 garden tractor, Z930M zero turn, wg36A walk behind
hey fellas, need a favor again!!!

Looking at a tractor from a neighbor. Old time farmers, her husband got put into assisted living after he fell and has been there for a few years. I take care of the property now and been eyeing that JD in the barn. well she mentioned to me today that she would like to sell. I dont need it but I want it  her son has ran it here and there but for the most part its been sitting covered up. here are the specs

John deere 4115 HST. she thinks 2003 model year but i will have to double check with serial number. 412 hours on it. 4 wheel drive, diesel 20 or 24hp i forgot. great condition. looks pretty clean. little rust under it from sitting i believe.
comes with these attachments:
410 front end loader, rear blade, post hole digger, and rear box weight for the 3 point in back.

My question is whats something like this worth. knowing its in good shape but it has been sitting. so id think id need to do all fluids, fuel filters, drain the fuel, hydraulic filter and grease everything up real good. I think she mentioned 9 grand last year when she was thinking about selling it. she didnt give me a definite price. I just want to know my info when i go try to strike a deal. maybe for free if i keep taking care of the land

also with the 4115, is there any know issues, problems, tricks that i need to know about owning one?

heres a pic, its a little dusty but im sure with some elbow grease i could get that baby looking good!

For the money you mentioned she wants, I'd already have that sitting in my shop. That looks to be a very clean example.

If you get it, make sure that on top of fluid changes, you lube all the shifting mechanisms where the manual shows and also where they go into the trans. I use JD Superlube. It is what the manual recommends, but that is not why I use it. It just plain works great for lubing anything that needs it but doesn't take grease to do. I also use JD Polyurea grease on all my equipment regardless of what it is. That is excellent stuff and what comes in the machine/FEL to begin with.

I own a 4115. I bought mine used in 2010 with all sorts of attachments and only 269 hours. I got the 410 loader, 60" MMM w/mulch kit, front hitch and PTO drive kit, 2 stage blower that was still like new, 7' Frontier rear blade, MMM lock up kit, brand new never used Leinbach PHD, several 5 gallon fuel cans, a bunch of extra filters for air, hydro, and oil, Curtis canopy, extra lights, rear tires loaded with Rim Guard, and a few other things I can't recall right off. I paid $12K for it all. I recently had to have the right front axle seal replaced, but other than that it has been a great little tractor. I sold the 7' blade since it is really too big for this size machine, but have added a subsoiler and a 647 tiller, and a like new JD ballast box. I also recently swapped the R4's (still have them for times when needed) for some brand new wheels with brand new R1's that I had loaded with RG.

BTW, the FEL lift is the same as the 4110 (882 lbs @ the pins @ full height) and so is the rear 3 pt (1150 @ 24" behind the lift arms). The added 4 ponies (24 engine/20 PTO) is nice to have too.

One other thing that needs checking- make sure the battery cables and tie down are not corroded. JD machines have a well earned rep for this happening too frequently. I just keep an eye on all of mine and never have any troubles.

I'm really looking for a 4100 or 4110 but for that price I'd be on the road with a pocket full of cash. I'd guess that is a $12,000 to $15,000 tractor judging by what I've seen listed lately.

Think I got about $6,000 for my 2004 4010 from the dealer as tradein last year. So, probably $7-8,000 for it. It was same as the 4115 but with 18.5 hp and a single hydraulic pump (no separate one for the steering like I think the 4115 has). Not sure what the 4115 might have had for the PTO engagement. On the 4010, it was very abrupt and led to fracturing of the disc between the engine and U joint to the hydraulic system at 660 hours. I just traded it in at that point on a new 1025.

Ralph-
The 4010 was really nothing like the 4110 or 4115. They have completely different frames, rear ends/trans, 3 pts, PTO design, drive shafts from engine to trans, front wheel assemblies etc etc. The 4010 was the fore runner of the 2210 and 2305. They have the same floor pan, rear end etc. The 4010 used rubber engine mounts to reduce vibrations, while the 4110/4115 do not.:)

well I bought it!!!! Couldnt pass it up. got an awesome deal on it and a few other things with it that she doesnt need any more. she had all the owners manuals and both keys. got it home and all the dust off of it. tomorrow its getting all fresh fluids and filters all the way around, plus the lights on the rear are taped on so i gotta look into those and see about getting them fixed. looks like the plastic is stripped out so he must of taped them back on hahaha. one thing im not sure on this tractor is about glow plugs? all of our diesel trucks and equipment have wait to start lights or something telling you the glow plugs are warming up before firing it up but I dont see anthing on this tractor. I let it sit in the run position before i start it just in case but it starts great every time. If anyone could help me out that would be great. here are some pics of it after I got all the dust off. Has a few rusty spots under it that i plan on touching up to keep it clean looking. thinking about selling both of them and buying a brand new JD x700 series tractor with 4x4, plow, and maybe FEL, and a drive over deck but not sure yet. we will have to see

now heres some pics of my green and yellow army :)

Congrats! The 4115 has a direct injection engine, so no glow plugs, better fuel economy, and near instant starts.

I'm curious about the straight rops though. They never came like that. They only made the 4115 for 2002, 2003, 20004. The ROPS should have a bend in it at the fold joint.
