Have a 1999 JD410E Backhoe that is now leaking badly from its Loader / Spooler Valve --it controls a four-way bucket and has been a real dependable workhorse. I'm in the middle of harvest and can't get to it until later -- can someone recommend a rebuilder somewhere in the Richmond - VA Beach - Outer Banks NC area? Or alternatively where it can be sent UPS/Fedex/Freight? (it weighs approx 100 lbs). Maybe even a recommendation on a rebuild kit -- fall back for a DIY (me) rebuild this fall.

Have you tried pulling out the spools and putting new o-rings on them?

Maybe they do not have o-rings ??

This might help, or you may find other video's too.

Thank you kindly -- I think there are orings and a range of seals inside those spool valves, but I haven't disassembled to investigate. I have rebuilt standalone hydraulic cylinders (loads of fun getting old stuck gland nuts off) but this one probably needs to go on a test jig / stand after installation/rebuild - like this I imagine:

Reminds me of an asphalt machine laying asphalt in my driveway a few years back, and having a hyd. oil leak at a control valve. I had an o-ring kit that helped the crew out when they just pulled out a spool that was leaking and changed the damaged o-ring. Not sure it is the same, but might be worth a try.

Is the leak between sections or around the ends of the spools? If between sections then yes there would be several seals between each section. If around end of spools would also suspect an O-ring but should not have to dismantle the valve.

Sir - I've power washed it a couple of time and it has multiple leaks - most appear to be "internal". John Deere makes absolutely superb equipment (I own Orange and Green mainly - seen way too many problems with Chinese junk) but as we all know hydraulics need attention fairly regularly. Here's an exploded view of the valve. Thank you again for your insights and suggestions!

Thank you sir !
And man do I miss Texas -- lived in Del Rio (Ciuda Acuna across the border use to be a great little town to visit -- no longer), San Antonio, Bastrop (beautiful hill country), Wichita Falls (unfortunately my old home there was flattened down to the concrete foundation blocks by that big twister) and Greenville (dry county so you'll have to drive a bit to have a drink). Have a great week !
