JD 4 in 1 bucket problem

Equipment: 400CX FEL with a JD 4 in 1 bucket.
Problem: During use, the lower cylinder pivot area fills with debris packing in around the hydraulic fitting, causing the fitting to break.
Discussion: Had one break, had one damaged. Thinking about some sort of guard that will hinge to allow access to grease zerk but not allow debris to pile up under the cylinder. A rubber (old truck inner tube) around the top to keep stuff from falling behind.

Anyone had similar problem? Any solutions already out there?

I have a 6 yr old 4 in 1 bucket and have had not probs.but the bottom of where you are having probs. is a open bottom on mine bucket yours has closed bottom. I have two ideas.first,hole saw a hole in the bottom of the plate to let the dirt out.Next,take the cydliner out and put a piece of soft foamin the space where the dirt is packing,Good luck.
