jd 332 diesel engine fluxuation

Have a JD332 Yanmar diesel that once cranked up, it will not throttle up when pushing lever up....it stays at an idle. Also when it finally throttles up, it tries to die out when in taller grass or possibly going up a small incline. Please help, need to be using this mower here in southeast Texas with all the rain we've gotten. Any info will help!

Fuel starvation or governor, first place to start is the fuel system, clean good fuel, treat the tank for algae and water, check fuel cap vent hole for plugging, check fuel pickups in tank, change fuel filters, check fuel pump, check injectors. Once that is done test it again did problem go away or still the same.

Agree, it sounds like fuel related... what of these suggested steps have you covered already?

this was my son's mower, but he did remove tank last year and clean, and has replaced filter. What would you suggest doing to the governor?

But you haven't done the other checks yet! Please verify all before proceeding further. The other thing to check is the fuel shutoff solenoid on the engine too.

I would suggest leaving the governor alone until you have taken care of EVERY thing else!

Is the fuel pump running? My 332 will start and idle without the pump running and will throttle up if sitting still, but once a load is placed on the engine it bogs and almost dies. Check to make sure the fuel system is providing fuel. The injector pump will draw only a enough fuel to start and idle. It needs the fuel pump running with all of the lines and filter clear to provide enough fuel to operate under any load.

will order new inline fuel filter today, no history on how old the present one is. Yes, the pump is running when the key is on. Thanks.
